frequently asked questions

What makes this camp different?

A small, relationship-based forest camp that follows the rhythm of nature and the children. Less schedule, more connection!

Who leads the camp?

Sarah Pittao-Smith, founder of Together With Nature, with over a decade of experience in outdoor and alternative education.

What does a typical day look like?

Outdoor free play during flexible drop off. Opening circle, group games& a forest walk. We set up “camp” for lunch, creative arts, and storytelling. Clean up, walk back for closing circle & pick up. Everything is adapted to the weather and the group.

Is it outdoors all day?

Yes. Camp is primarily outdoors in most weather. We have an indoor space when the weather is not safe to be outside during thunderstorms and high humidity.

What ages is this for?

Ages 5–11, in a mixed-age group.

Where is the camp held?

Huron Natural Area.

How many children are there?

Small group sizes to allow for safety, connection, and individual care.

What level of independence is expected?

Children should manage basic self-care in an outdoor setting, with light adult support.

Is my child required to be toilet independent?

Yes. Children must manage toileting on their own, including clothing and wiping.

What about snack and lunch?

Children are expected to open containers and eat independently.

Will my child carry their own backpack?

Yes. Children carry their own backpack during walks and exploration, sometimes for up to 15 minutes.

What if my child is still learning these skills?

This camp is best suited for children who are mostly independent. Support is offered, but this is not a one-on-one care setting.

What should my child bring?

A full packing list will be sent before camp. Expect weather-appropriate clothing, lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.

What is the refund policy?

Early Bird registrations are non-refundable. Spots may be transferred to another child with advance notice and approval.
